FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ROBOTICS FOR RASPBERY PI AND SCRATCH.
Robotics Made Easy Comes To The Raspberry Pi Using Scratch And A Little Imagination.

Commercial applications for the Raspberry Pi which still hold at their heart the educational values of the Pi Foundation are few and far between.
According to the Lead Designer of Laika, Andy Bakin that value was at the heart of his decision to launch the Laika Explorer Board, and start off on a journey to make hardware control as accessible as possible, to everyone.

The Laika system not only has robotics in mind, it can be used to control motors, switches, lamps and more, and you can be up and running in minutes with Scratch, the free software from MIT, or if you prefer you can use Python or even C.

According to Michael Horne of Recantha, it is the collaboration between eightdog and Kitronik which is one of the most important benefits of this project, as Kitronik will be providing lesson plans to allow teachers to use Laika in lessons. Students taking the Computing GCSE in the future could well be using Laika as part of their project.

Of course Laika has outside the classroom applications too, build your own Dalek anyone?

Laika has been developed by Andy Bakin of eightdog in collaboration with Kitronik, a leading education electronic project supplier in the UK. The system aims to bring easy hardware control to the classroom and home by providing an affordable, expandable system which is easily accessible to both the beginner and the experienced developer.
